The
acsestral homeland of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is located in
the beloved Miikinock Kijews (Turtle Mountains) in the extreme north
central part of North Dakota. The Reservation occupies 72 square miles
of scenic rolling hills, trees, meadows, streams and lakes. The Turtle
Mountain Reservation encompasses three counties in North Dakota and
three counties in Montana. The total area is 140,107 acres with a
tribal enrollment of 25,000.
