The Confederated
Tribes of Colville Reservation covers 1.4 million acres in the
North Central region of the State of Washington, and is a
Sovereign Nation. The twelve aboriginal tribes that make
up the Confederated tribes are the Colville, Nespelem, San Poil,
Lake, Palus, Wenatchi, Chelan, Entiat, Methow, Southern
Okanogan, Moses Columbia tribes and Chief Joseph's Band of the
Nez Perce.
Established by a
Presidential Executive Order in 1872, the reservation was
originally about twice the size of the current reservation.
Tribal enrollment is approximately 8,700. The population
of the reservation itself is about 5,000, which includes
Colville tribal members and their families and non-Colville
members.
